To link in with the expedition theme of water and irrigation, I decided that a walk along the canals would make a good walk. But a big walk, starting from Nantwich I will walk all the way to Leeds, covering 123 miles and supported by my Dad and Grandad!!
The Route…
Day One. Nantwich Marina to MIddlewich Bridge 13.8 miles (Shropshire Union Canal)
Day Two. Middlewich Bridge to Preston Brook 18.7 miles (Trent and Mersey Canal)
Day Three. Preston Brook to Timperley Bridge 17.7 miles (Bridgewater Canal)
Day Four. Timperley Bridge to Black Rock Lock 18.8 miles (Bridgewater, Rochdale, Ashton and Huddersfield Narrow Canals)
Day Five. Black Rock Lock to Aspley Basin 17.6 miles (Huddersfield Narrow Canal)
Day Six. Aspley Basin to Thornes Flood Gates 15.5 miles (Huddersfield Broad and Calder and Hebble Navigation Canals)
Final Day. Thornes Flood Gates to Leeds Bridge 17.9 miles (Aire and Calder Navigation and Main Line Canals)
